Memory Card Recovery – Recover Files from Memory Card
Memory cards are a form of flash storage used to house data captured on your phone, camera, tablet, MP3 player, and more. Since the stored data is often important, losing it due to corruption, accidental deletion or other causes is not an ideal situation. What do you do if precious memories seem to have magically disappeared or were removed unintentionally from this storage media? Is it possible to regain deleted audio, image, and phone data after it appears to be gone? What you need is a dependable recovery utility capable of tracking down this information before it is overwritten with new data.
Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery – Home Edition is an option for quickly regaining lost or deleted photos, audio files, texts, and more. When something is lost due to corruption or is unintentionally removed from a memory card, it is not actually gone. Instead, the address used to reference its location on the memory card is removed. This means the operating system on the device or computer used to access it just doesn’t know where to look. As long as nothing new takes its place, you can regain it in minutes with a dependable recovery utility.
Windows Data Recovery is able to scan the memory card when connected to your computer and locate retrievable data. This means you can use it to scan for several types of files including:
After the device or card reader holding the memory card has been connected to the computer, the utility will be able to scan it for data. Typically you can connect your phone, camera, and other devices with a USB cable. When this is done, the computer will recognize the device and storage media. After Windows Data Recovery has been installed to a supported operating system and computer, the memory card will be identified automatically for scanning. You will be able to choose files for recovery once the scan has completed.
Regain Multiple File Types in 4 Easy Steps!
This tutorial shows how to perform memory card recovery using Windows Data Recovery on your PC. To begin, you will need to connect the device or a card reader to the computer and open the program.
Step 1: Select the Memory Card for Drive Recovery. Drive recovery options are displayed based on identified physical storage options. If the device has been connected to your computer, then it will appear as a drive selection for scanning. Click on the appropriate drive to select it and then continue to Step 2.
Step 2: Scan the Memory Card for Data. Next, you will need to choose the type of scan that will be performed. A panel will appear on the right of the utility window after the card has been chosen for scanning and contains two options: Normal and Advanced.
To make a selection, simply tick the appropriate radial and then click on Scan Now. For this tutorial, we will be performing a normal scan since it will find data in most recovery scenarios.
The utility window will appear as shown below as scanning takes place:
Step 3: Choose Items to Recover. All scan results may be recovered or you can choose specific items prior to finishing the recovery. The Classic View is displayed after scanning has finished, but this view shows the files based on their storage location. Click on File Type List instead to see the results organized by type (documents, images, videos, etc.).
Note: If you want to recover all data, just click on the checkbox next to Windows C:\ or File Type(s) and then continue to Step 4.
To customize the recovery selections, you have several options including the ability to check certain file types in the tree view. For example, you could check Videos, Audio, and Documents to recover only these items within the scan results.
Another option is to expand the file type and check individual format folders. For example, you could expand the Graphics & Photos folder and choose certain formats like bmp, jpg, etc.
To recover individual files, expand the type folder in the tree view and then click on a specific format folder. Each file for that format will be displayed on the right of the application window. You can check or uncheck any desired file in the list and even click on a file to preview it.
Step 4: Finish Memory Card Data Recovery. To complete this process, all you need to do is click on the red Recovery icon at the bottom of the utility. Windows Data Recovery will prompt you to choose a save location for the files and then do the rest for you!
