SD Card Recovery – Recover Files from SD Card
Your SD card has experienced a problem where files have been lost or unintentionally removed, what now? How can you perform SD card recovery then? Physical storage can be finicky and in some instances, a sudden power outage, virus, or other issue results in what appears to be lost data. In these situations, an SD card can easily become damaged or files could be deleted accidentally. This is often frustrating when the information is important like family photos, app data for your tablet, or something work-related.
Without a recovery tool, it is hard to regain this information because the operating system will not be able to locate the files when reading the card. After a file is lost or deleted on an SD card, the address used to locate where it is physically stored is often deleted or unreadable. Your file is still on the card and all you need is a little extra help finding it. Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery – Home Edition is an easy solution when this type of problem arises.
It is a recovery tool capable of tracking down files and data that has not been overwritten yet on the SD card, but just cannot be found by the device or operating system using it. With Windows Data Recovery, you can scan the SD card via your Windows computer to locate any retrievable images, word documents, audio files, videos, and more. If the recovery is performed quickly, there will be no data loss!
This is because the data will remain on your SD card until something new requires the physical storage space. With Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery – Home Edition it is possible to do the following:

To get started, you will need to install Windows Data Recovery on your computer and then connect the device. Once this is done, the SD Card will appear as a data recovery option within the utility. Follow the steps below to perform SD card recovery in a few clicks.
How to Recover Files from an SD Card on Your Windows Computer
Step 1: Select the SD Card. Once the SD card is identifiable by the Windows computer where the program is installed, it will also appear as a Drive Recovery option. Click on Drive Recovery to expand this section of the application window if the drive list does not appear automatically.
SD cards and other external storage devices typically have a drive letter other than C:\ or D:\, which are drives specifically for the computer. They may also have a name when one has been assigned to the card. For this example, we will be choosing the E:\ drive.
Step 2: Scan the SD Card. Choose a scan type in the right panel of the utility window. A Normal Scan is chosen by default. However, at any time, you can perform an advanced scan to find hard to locate files. In most cases, a Normal Scan is all you need to find the data. To start the scan, click on Scan Now above these options in the panel.
After doing so, Windows Data Recovery will scan the SD card and locate any data that can be retrieved from it. The scan does take a few minutes to complete and you can see the progress in the progress bar. The tree view on the left will begin to populate with files as the scan takes place.
Step 3: Make Recovery Selections. The next step will be choosing what you want to recover with the utility. By default, you will see located files organized by their save location on the SD card. To make this easier, first select the File Type List view by clicking on the tab located above the tree.
Next, if you want to recover everything on the SD card, click on the checkbox for File Type(s) in the tree view.
Otherwise, you can expand each folder to view files by type or format. For example, if the Documents folder is expanded, then you can select certain formats like Excel, Word documents, etc. The same can be done for other file types such as Graphics & Photos or Video files.
By clicking on a format folder, you will be able to see a list of all recoverable files on the right of the utility window for that format. Here you can select individual files for recovery or click on a file to preview it within the application. Additionally, a search feature is provided to make it easier to locate a specific file in the scan results.
Step 4: Get Your SD Card Data Back. Finally, click on the Recover icon (floppy disk) to finish SD card recovery. This icon can be found at the bottom right corner of the screen and will appear red once one or more selections have been made. The utility must know where to save the recovered files. Choose a save location and then wait patiently while Windows Data Recovery salvages your files from the scanned card.
